Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Solutions to Move the Western Balkans Region Forward

Find out how IPC WB helps national, regional and local governments and organizations develop and deliver better policies, plans and projects

The Story
Behind Our
Organization

IPC WB helps national, regional and local governments and organizations across the Western Balkans Region develop and deliver better policy, plans and projects. By creating an environment and opportunities for sharing solutions, we aim to ensure that government investment, innovation and implementation efforts, all lead to integrated and sustainable impact for the people and the Region.

Better performance leads to better results. By building on its forerunner, INTERREG IVC (2007-2013), INTERREG Europe aims to get maximum return from the EUR 359 million financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for 2014-2020. This time round, it’s still about doing good, but doing it better!

Solutions exist that can help the Western Balkans Region become the best it can be. Today, the EU’s emphasis is very much on paving the way for regions to realise their full potential – by helping them to capitalise on their innate strengths, while tapping into opportunities that offer possibilities for economic, social and environmental progress.

To achieve this goal, IPC WB offers opportunities for national, regional and local public authorities across the Western Balkans to share ideas and experience on public policy in practice, therefore improving strategies for their citizens and communities.

Who do we collaborate with?

IPC WB cooperates with and supports the three types of organizations:

  • Public authorities – local, regional and national
  • Managing authorities/intermediate bodies - in charge of the EU Interreg and related national and regional development programmes
  • Agencies, research institutes, thematic and non-profit organisations – these types of organisations work with IPC WB by first engaging with their local policymakers in order to identify options for collaboration with IPC WB

Our Focal Thematic Objectives

2014-2020 Interreg projects are submitted to an intervention logic that is a part of a comprehensive development and investment framework encompassing all of the ESI Funds - European Structural and Investment Funds (among which is ERDF - European Regional Development Fund). These thematic objectives and investment priorities are key cornerstones of IPC WB framework, on the territory of the Western Balkans Region.
